Algenon- The Wharton Gladden Foundation and Nature's Select really did it big with this event. So happy I was able to witness and be apart of an initiative that is based on building social capital and reinvesting back into the community. It was absolutely incredible. Thank you for your hard work to make it happen. I look forward to next year's Community Movie Night and many more of WGF efforts! WGF stay "locked in!"

Absolutely on the right track, Algenon! You have significant insight and solid answers to very big problems. The details of implementation would be far too much to post here, but all that you layout is absolutely doable and practicable, though of course not easy. There are no easy answers for climbing out of our financial abyss, but there are solutions and you're on the right track.

You have my vote presidential candidate Cash! This is a very well-written and thought out plan. I especially agree with your thoughts on education. We need to provide the right incentives for our educators in order to produce the most effective results – that is to provide an unmatched education for our children and future leaders.

Great ideas, however, you give no way to apply these things. Additionally, your taxation policy would place a heavy burden on the middle class.

Finally, you fail to mention, as most people do that the reason the bush era spending was lower than the Obama era was largely due to the fact that Obama put the 2 wars "on the books".

I would encourage you to expand on your theories with practical application (something that would pass the house and congress with a bipartisan split assumption)

Although your plan appears to be well thought out,and I'm sure it is, I would hope that if you were given the opportunity to implement facets of this plan, you would keep in mind that America did not arrive in this fiscal predicament overnight, so it would be overzealous and somewhat selfish to think we could depart from this mess in that same time frame. Part of what makes America great is because we are in part our brother's keeper. No, that does not mean we should spoon feed those who can or those who choose not to but nor should we punish those who can't or those who are unable to do better. Yes I believe there is waste in federal spending as I'm sure there is in many big businesses (check out a Friday afternoon). But before we start repealing, vetoing, implementing, influencing, let's come up with a solution that is not a nightmare to our common citizens. Perhaps everyone has not been as smart as you with our investments, our financial education, or perhaps we ignored a few opportunities. So before you begin trying to level the playing field by cutting corporate taxes, eliminating small and medium business credits and loopholes, and a few more ambitious suggestions, let's not forget America is built on the backbone of small and medium size businesses. And even though cooperations are taxed at a higher level, they are usually shrewd enough to benefit from other tax laws that the average Joe does not. My point Mr. Cash is that in an idealistic world, one could just blink an eye and all would be well. No casualites, no mishaps, the poor would become middle class, the middle class would be rich and of course, the rich would be richer. But in this world, we need to take our time and devise a plan that would not hurt those who are already starving financially and not cripple those who are trying to get a leg up and of course help those keep their millions. No, I don't have the answers. It just seems like those who are being heard of entertaining a political expose instead of doing what is right for the majority of American people. It sure would be nice and yes maybe idealistic, if we could just step out of the political realm, slow it down and elect "DOING THE RIGHT THING" for 2012 president!

Fantastic article!

I would like to add one thing. What our country needs right now is stability. If the White House and congress will stop trying to fix our lives and focus on providing us a stable platform (stable energy costs, stable tax burden, etc.) we, the people, will rebuild this economy. Let them focus on education and infrastructure.

Great article, Algenon, and "right on"! I do have to disagree with you when you say President Obama doesn't understand this or that. I believe he definitely does understand the right way to get the economy going and chooses not to. I believe he is doing what he is to destroy the USA.

Algenon, I think you are very smart & have a great wealth of knowledge on many subjects, especially financial. Your hope that our country and our "leaders" learn how to work together & focus on the long term issues of our country is correct. I was at the luncheon when one of your guests asked if you were running for President. Not sure if you have time for a full out run for 2012 - but there are other elections and seats that you could fill in this upcoming election. I'll vote for you for any State or Federal seat that needs a can do & can actually focus on the important topics of the day, week, month, year and years down the road. Have a great day & thanks for sharing your knowledge and your ideas.
